A Spooktacular Week!

What a spooktacular week!  With Halloween and the change over to November, there is much excitement in the air!

These characters worked through the morning and were ready to celebrate at our party Monday afternoon.  Special thanks to the parents who sent in goodies or were able to come in and help out!

Whoa Momma!  Check out those feet!

We had some fun with static electricity making our ghosts dance.
Students were able to decorate and take home their ornamental pumpkins.
During math, students actively participated with task cards placed throughout the room during place value scoot.

We learned about the importance of reading to learn new information with a pre-reading activity.  Students made predictions about pumpkins before reading their Scholastic News Article "Pumpkin Surprise". After reviewing vocabulary and reading the article, students were able to confirm or revise their predictions.  This specific issue focused on a pumpkin boat race.  Students were amazed- pumpkins float!
Students got down, got funky, and got schooled with Blazer Fresh during our new favorite brain break- Banana, Banana, Meatball.  This guided dancing mix reinforces the definition of a pattern while students are up and moving.
Time to say goodbye to another fantastic week in first grade!

Remember the time change this weekend!
