Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

You can find magic wherever you look.  Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.
-Dr. Seuss
With a partner or alone, on the rug or in the hall, shoes off or shoes on, our class loves to read!  Read Across America is a nation wide reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.  Our class will celebrate reading the entire month of March with buddy reading opportunities, dress up days, mystery readers and special events!

Women of the Floyd Farm Bureau share the story Sleep Tight Farm: A Farm Prepares for Winter by Eugeine Doyle while helping students connect the story to our rural farming community.
Angie Ellis reads a favorite Mo Willems story before students pick out a book to take home compliments of Floyd Blue Box.

The Sleep Book made these students heavy-eyed!

Students confer about the order of instructions for making green eggs.

Thumbs up for green eggs and ham!

Mrs. Thomas' sixth graders assisted our class in making Oobleck. Oobleck gets its name from the Dr. Seuss book Bartholomew and the Oobleck where a gooey green substance, Oobleck, fell from the sky and wreaked havoc in the kingdom.  We made Oobleck in bowls and made a wonderful cornstarch mess... but it sure was fun!

I am lucky to work with some of the best teachers around!  They are inspiring, encouraging, and supportive!

One final thought....(Oh, this makes me smile!)
